THE YOUNG ARTIST

Another pleasant picture to paint. Plenty of detail and objects in perhaps a children’s school room. To me it is a quiet picture – the girl sitting, playing with her doll – the young boy concentrating in an effort to master his subject both so young – coming across in great patience making the picture so quiet and peaceful.

by THEOPHILE EMANUEL DUVERGER  1821- 1898

Duverger was born in 1821, he did not enjoy a formal artistic training but learned his craft through the close observation of nature and by carefully studying the woks of the Masters in the Museums and Galleries.
